The C8 Chevy Corvette is a fantastic sports car and an incredible achievement, yet I’m still not quite sold on how it looks. Not only is the design itself fussy and overwrought, but I also think it offers very few good colors. Chevy seems not quite set on the color lineup itself, confirming today to Motor1 that three C8 colors aren’t returning for 2022.
Chevy hasn’t released word on whether these will be replaced or what will replace them, but hopefully, the company has some good shades up its sleeves. Right now, the color palette is skewed toward flat colors that—in my opinion—accentuate the unnecessary lines and creases on the C8. The C7 carryover colors Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic and Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat are nice, but neither works as well here as it did on the C7. A true, unique, exclusive C8 color would give it the poster-star icon status it’s always been capable of.
